A Beary Merry Post-Christmas Giveaway
*Thanks to everyone who entered. And congratulations to commentor #48, Kathy, who won the $25 gift card! Have a Beary great day, everyone! *groan*
Build-a-Bear Workshop knows kids. Walking into their store is like walking into a fantastic wonderland. With the kalaidescope walls and bins filled with animals waiting to be stuffed with love, Build-a-Bear Workshop brings imagination to life. What’s even more magical is the process of putting together a new best friend. From the stuffing to the washing, kids get the chance to customize their very own bear, or owl, or deer, or snowman, or…
Several weeks ago, Build-a-Bear Workshop approached me and asked if I would like to make my own bear for review. Since my youngest was approaching his third birthday, I decided to jump at the offer and, in exchange, I get to offer you the chance to win a gift certificate to make a bear of your own.
It’s beary exciting for all involved.
*groan* Sorry. I couldn’t help myself.
When I went to the Build-a-Bear Workshop to get my son’s bear, I was alone. Sans kids. In Build-a-Bear Workshop. I approached the head bear stuffer with my choice and she promptly told me to pick out a heart for my bear. So I did. Then she rubbed it between her hands and asked me to blow on it and give it a kiss.
So…I did. But I began to wonder if she realized I was not of the ten and under set.
“And what are you going to name your new friend?” she asked, all sing-songy.
“Um…it’s a gift for my son, so I think I’ll let him name it,” I answered.
“Oh. Well, might I suggest Darth Bear-der?” she asked.
“You might suggest it.”
“Okay,” she declared tying the bear’s back up. “Your new friend is ready to go. Now you can take him to the back and bathe him.”
I looked at the oversized plastic bathtub where two toddlers were lovingly “bathing” their new bears. And once again, I tried to discern whether or not this woman understood I was not a child.
“Oooohhh, that’s okay,” I said.
“Are you sure? It’s nice to give your bear his first bath before taking him home.”
I couldn’t contain myself any longer. I felt trapped in a bad sitcom. So I laughed.
She didn’t.
Instead she gestured me toward the computers and told me to register my bear then check out afterwards. Needless to say I don’t think I made a new friend. To try and make amends, I did register the bear as Darth Bear-der.
And he is a prized possession of my now three year old. Darth Bear-der has joined the managerie of animals that grace his bed at night. All because he was made with love. But not bathed…because that was just a little weird…
And now you all have the chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Build-a-Bear Workshop to purchase and clothe your own new best friend. Or your kids. Might I suggest taking them with you to make it? All you have to do is leave a comment to enter. To win multiple entries, tweet about this giveaway or post to Facebook and come back and leave another comment. Comments are open from now until midnight Sunday, January 2nd. We will choose the winner randomly on Monday, January 3rd.
Happy entering and have a beary wonderful day.
*groan* Sorry. It’s so tempting!
Disclosure- I received a $25 gift card to Build-a-Bear Workshop to purchase an item for review. I was not compensated for this post. Many thanks to Build-a-Bear Workshop for their willingness to participate in this giveaway.

[...] brain to regain a bit of function. I did write up a review this morning at STL Family Life for a Build-a-Bear giveaway. Hop on over and enter to win, if you please. Or just read about the hilarious experience I had [...]
I’d love to win a Build-a-Bear for my son. His favorite is a little golfer bear that he drives around in a red sports car. Yuppie in training, I suppose.

What a great way to start 2011, at Build A Bear. My daughter would love it! She’d probably bathe her bear though!

You did the right thing. These workers need to understand the difference between adults and children. You would have looked ridiculous alone bathing a stuffed animal. Kudos on you for breaking the wall back into sanity.

id give this to my sister
They just put a Build A Bear in the mall closest to us. It would be great to go “Build” a buddy for our daughter.
It would be fun to take my grand daughter to Build A Bear to create her own stuffed animal.
We did a Build A Bear once and my daughter loved that it came home in its oun “house”. She enjoyed the whole experience, picking out her life less stuffed animal. Pumping it full of stuffing, adding a heart, after making a wish and giving it a kiss. We bathed the bear, and picked out clothes. Dressed her bear and gave it a name, “Jelly”. I am sure she would love to do it all again.
We haven’t been to a Build A Bear yet. They have recently put one in a mall about 15 miles away, winning this would be a good excuse to go try them out.
I would love to make a bear for my nephew.
No Build A Bears in Yakima, Wa – but I know there is one near Grandma’s house in Utah. We could make one when we go there for a visit.

I would love to win this for my daughter, thanks!
Two of my friends and I (we’re all in our mid-20s) made a Chococat plush for our friend, who’s a big Chococat fan. We all played along with the whole heart (All you did was blow on and kiss it? We had, about, five things to do – which I purposely, incorrectly deciphered for my friend later on.), bath, dress up things because, well, we’re extremely dorky. But yeah, it was HILARIOUSLY WEIRD, and I made sure to document the whole thing via photography. When we gave our friend the plush after showing her a slideshow of the photos I took, I said, “Enjoy your three-hearted Chococat!
” I think, yeah, being alone, it would’ve been/felt weird to do all of that, and I’d love to do this again. LoL.
i would love to win!
I’m sure my son would love to go and build his own bear.
My daughter would love a hello kitty! suelee1998 @ gmail.com
